We are excited to announce that we have been awarded £29,991 from the Scottish Government’s Climate Engagement Fund to deliver an 8 month-long programme of climate literacy events and activities across the Isle of Arran.

This project will bring people together, build understanding, and empower our community to take positive action towards a sustainable, net zero future.

What Is the Climate Engagement Fund?

The Climate Engagement Fund supports community organisations across Scotland to help people understand climate change and take meaningful action.

It funds events, workshops, and creative activities that make climate literacy engaging, accessible, and locally relevant.

By securing this funding, we will deliver an exciting and ambitious programme of events designed to celebrate our island’s strengths, share skills, and encourage practical, everyday climate action.

Climate Literacy Events on Arran

From August 2025 to March 2026, we’ll host monthly themed events that combine hands-on learning, creativity, and community connection.

Our planned highlights include:

  • Sustainable Autumn: a season of practical workshops, designed especially for the children of Arran.
  • Eco Stories of Arran: celebrating the island’s climate champions through photography, art, and storytelling.
  • Sustainable Cooking Workshops: celebrating sustainable food and ingredients.
  • Youth Climate Projects: creative and action-based projects designed with and for young people.
  • DIY Climate Action Workshops: practical sessions on skills like mending, upcycling, and growing food.
  • Arran Climate Festival 2026: a celebration of the island’s journey towards net zero, bringing together residents, businesses, and visitors.

Why This Project Matters

Arran is already taking steps towards a more sustainable future, from the uptake of renewable energy, to residents supporting local food, and businesses joining net zero accelerator programmes.

The Climate Engagement Fund will help us build on this momentum, ensuring that everyone on the island has the opportunity to learn new skills, share ideas, and be part of the conversation.

By creating spaces for climate conversations and hands-on learning, we can:

  • Increase understanding of climate change impacts and solutions.
  • Support people in making positive, sustainable lifestyle changes.
  • Strengthen community connections and resilience.

How You Can Get Involved

We want as many people as possible to join in, whether you’re a resident, a business owner, a school pupil, or a visitor to the island.

Here’s how you can take part:

  • Attend our events: each month will have different themes and activities for all ages. Look out for our calendar or check our What’s On Page.
  • Share your ideas: tell us what climate topics and skills you’d like to see included, email our project Manager sofi@arranecosavvy.org.uk
  • Volunteer your time: help us run events, share your expertise, or contribute to workshops.
  • Spread the word: follow Arran Eco Savvy on social media and share our updates.
