Eco Savvy Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us. Eco Savvy want all our members to feel confident and secure with how any personal information you share with us will be stored and used.

This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use and store your personal information.

“Personal information” means any information that identifies or could identify you.

Information we collect

To become a member of Eco Savvy we ask for personal information, including:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Address

This data is considered “identifying information”, as it can personally identify you. We only request personal information relevant to providing you with a service, and only use it to help provide or improve this service.

As we are a membership organisation the board must keep a register of members, setting out for each current member:

  • his/her full name and address
  • the date on which he/she was registered as a member of the organisation

For each former member – for at least six years from the date on he/she ceased to be a member:

  • his/her name
  • the date on which he/she ceased to be a member

The board must ensure that the register of members is updated within 28 days of any change.

You can update your choices or stop us sending you communication at any time by emailing hello@arranecosavvy.org.uk or clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the relevant communication.

How we collect information

We collect information by fair and lawful means, with your knowledge and consent. We also let you know why we’re collecting it and how it will be used. You are free to refuse our request for this information, with the understanding that we may be unable to provide you with some of your desired services without it.

Use of information & keeping your information safe

The personal information we collect about you will be used by our trustees and staff at Eco Savvy so that they can support you and the wider community in our aim to increase environmental sustainability and support sustainable living, whilst working towards zero waste for Arran. We may use your personal information to:

  • Contact you about our work and how you can support Eco Savvy
  • Invite you to participate in events, surveys or research

We will never sell or share your personal information with external organisations for marketing purposes.

Eco Savvy take data protection very seriously. We have reviewed our processes and implemented appropriate physical, technical and organisational measures to protect the personal information we have under our control, both on and off-line.

Data processing and storage

The personal information we collect is stored and processed in Google Workspace and mailchimp.

We only retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide a service. While we retain this data, we will protect it within commercially acceptable means to prevent loss and theft, as well as unauthorised access, disclosure, copying, use or modification. That said, we advise that no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and cannot guarantee absolute data security.

If you request your personal information be deleted, or where your personal information becomes no longer relevant to our operations, we will erase it from our system within a reasonable timeframe.

Children’s Privacy

Eco Savvy does not directly provide services to individuals under the age of 16 and therefore will not be processing any personal data belonging to children.

Photography and filming consent

Occasionally we take photographs or film at Eco Savvy events for marketing purposes and to spread word about our work. It is important to us to respect individuals’ wishes and we will let attendees know if there will be any photography or filming taking place on the day. We will also let people know how photos/videos will be used, and if they will be shared with others.

Limits of our policy

This privacy policy only covers Eco Savvy’s own collecting and handling of data. We only work with partners, affiliates and third-party providers whose privacy policies align with ours, however we cannot accept responsibility or liability for their respective privacy practices.

Changes to this policy

In the case of any changes or updates to Eco Savvy’s Privacy Policy we will inform members via email and/or newsletter. We will also explain in a simple way what has changed within the policy.

Your rights, responsibilities and consent

As a member of Eco Savvy, you have the right to be informed about how your data is collected and used and we will only collect data with your consent. You are entitled to know what data we collect about you, and how it is processed. You are entitled to correct and update any personal information about you, and to request this information be deleted.

Analytics cookies allow websites to record anonymous user data. This enables us to assess which content is useful to improve what content we provide in the future.
