We’re excited to announce that Arran Eco Savvy has received new energy funding from the Scottish Government through the Ayrshire Climate Hub, supporting a project to help tackle climate change and improve sustainable living on Arran.
This new phase of our Tackling Climate Change by Living Well for Less programme will run from August 2025 to March 2026. It will deliver a range of activities designed to help our community to improve their homes and buildings while reducing energy use, cutting carbon emissions, and moving closer to net zero.
If you’re interested in energy funding for sustainable living on Arran, read on to find out how you can get involved!
What will the Energy Funding Support?
This funding allows us to deliver a wide range of community-led sustainability activities across the island. These will provide householders, businesses, and community groups with tools, knowledge, and support to take action.
Energy Workshops and Meet the Installer Events
We’ll host three workshops bringing together residents, businesses, and accredited installers. These events will cover ways of improving homes and buildings through:
- Insulation and energy efficiency
- Solar and hydro power
- Heat pumps and renewables
- Accessing funding for energy improvements
You’ll get the chance to ask questions, explore your options, and learn from trusted experts.
Circular Economy Sewing Workshops
We’ll deliver two practical sewing workshops focused on extending the life of winter clothing and creating DIY energy-saving solutions like draught excluders.
These sessions promote low-cost, high-impact climate action that fits into everyday life.
Action Learning for Net Zero
Two action learning groups will support households and businesses to share experiences and challenges, develop solutions, and take concrete steps toward their net zero goals.
Upgraded Sustainable Directory
We’re expanding our Arran Sustainable Directory to make it easier to:
- Find accredited installers and green service providers
- Access funding and practical advice
- Learn about sustainable travel and food options on Arran
The updated directory will help more people take action and find local support.
Winter Warmer Packs and Energy Lending Library
We’ll develop information on Winter Warmer Packs and low-cost kits to improve home energy efficiency for those most at risk of fuel poverty.
We’ll also launch a Library of Shared Energy Resources where the community can borrow, which include items like:
- Thermal imaging cameras
- Heated clothes airers
- Airfryers
Updated Arran Island Net Zero Plan
We’ll revise the Arran Net Zero Plan to reflect community feedback, new technology, and evolving policy. This will help guide the island’s progress toward a fair, resilient, and low-carbon future.
Why Energy Funding for Sustainable Living on Arran Matters
This new funding supports real action on the climate crisis at a local level. By focusing on practical support, skill-sharing, and improved access to resources, we can help the community to improve their homes and buildings and make sustainability more accessible for everyone on Arran.
Our goals include:
- Increasing local knowledge and confidence
- Supporting vulnerable households
- Promoting circular economy practices
- Encouraging the transition to renewable energy
- Building a stronger, more sustainable community
Get Involved and Stay Updated
We’ll be sharing more details about workshops, events, and how to borrow from the energy library in the coming weeks.
