Two weeks ago, our Active Travel team, Emma and Juliette, proudly received new e-bikes. These bikes will expand our Bike Library and support our e-bike loan scheme. Supplied by Dales Cycles and funded by Cycling UK, the bikes arrived on Thursday, March 6th.

Jim’s grandfather founded Dales Cycles in 1912, establishing a family-run bike shop with a rich history in Glasgow. Today, Jim and his sister, Kerri, run the business, continuing their family’s cycling legacy. We had the honor of meeting Jim’s family, including his father. Jim notably played a key role in building the business into what it is today.
Bringing the bikes to Arran was no small feat! The Dales Cycles team carefully packed and transported them in a large van. Dales Cycles thrives as a top supplier of bikes and accessories for all budgets and terrains, remaining a cornerstone of Scotland’s cycling community.
Emma shared why these new e-bikes are a game-changer for Eco Savvy,
“We now have options for both smaller and taller riders, making our fleet more accessible and better suited to serving our island community.”
Juliette added,
“We feel incredibly lucky to have received this timely funding from Cycling UK, which helps keep our Bike Library fleet strong. Jim’s service has been second to none.”
This expansion ensures that more residents and visitors can benefit from our loan schemes. This enhances local transport options and encouraging healthier, greener travel. The bikes have been selected to cater for cyclists of all ages and sizes.
