If you would like to be more active, walk in company and explore Arran, then joining one of our health walks this summer could be the answer!

This August we have a whole range of health walks available from Nature Walk to Nordic Walking and everything else in between!

What is a Nature Walk?

On a Nature Walk we focus on Arran’s flora and fauna. There are many great benefits to nature walks like, improved mood, improved physical health and helps connect you to new people in our local community. These are twice monthly, on mostly level terrain and last for up to an hour and a half.

In August our Health Walkers will be exploring Whiting Bay Shore and head along towards Kings Cross Point. The walk is slow, mostly level, lasting around 1.5 hours and includes track, pebbles, and some board walk!

We’ll also be taking a stroll through Shiskine and down the Rodden. The pace will be slow and a great chance to note the flora and bird life. Afterwords, we finish up at our Zero Waste Cafe in St Molios Church Hall, where refreshments will be available on a guided donation basis.

What is a Buggy Walk?

Buggy walks are open to all those who push a pram or buggy. They are a great way to socialise with other parents and carers in Arran. They last around 1 – 1.5 hours and go at a gentle pace.

This August we’ll be strolling along Lamlash Shore. This stretch is mostly pavement and road and there is plenty to see! We understand that sometimes our schedule may not work for your little ones schedule so feel free to join us for some or all of the walk.

What is a Social Walk?

Our social walks are prefect for those who have commitments during the day, or fancy spending some time outdoors after work. Lasting around 1 – 1.5 hours and going at a gentle pace, the social walks are a great way to decompress after a busy day.

On our next social walk we’ll be striding along Clauchlands Shore to the Outdoor Centre and back. It really is a great chance to wind down after a busy week.

What is a Stroll With It Walk?

Stroll With It Walks are a great way to stay fit and healthy, and socialise. They go at a gentle pace and last around 1 to 1.5 hours.

We have two Stroll With It walks planned in August; one exploring the south part of Fisherman’s Walk and historic Douglas Row. The second is a stroll through Cordon and around historic Hamilton Terrace.

Booking is essential, please email – strollwithit@arranecosavvy.org.uk

What is a Nordic Walk?

Nordic walking is a specific pole walking technique which harnesses the power of the upper body to turn walking into a workout! It can be adapted for anybody and be done anywhere. Nordic walks last around 1 to 1.5 hours and go at a gentle pace.

This August our Nordic Walkers will be exploring Eas Mor and Lamlash.

Booking is essential, please email – nordicwalking@arranecosavvy.org.uk

All of our walks are free, and are lead by trained Health Walk Leaders. To find out more about what is on each month at Arran Eco Savvy you can visit our What’s on Page. You can also get ahead and plan your schedule for the rest of the summer using our events page.
