Black Lives & Climate Justice Workshop:

We are sure that many people will be aware of the shocking inequalities and human rights abuses that are going on all over the world, that have been brought to greater widespread attention with the brutal killing of George Floyd in May.

Environmental racism is a huge issue within the climate emergency, and often goes unnoticed or unchallenged.

Tomorrow evening our friends over at Scottish Communities Climate Action Network (SCCAN) are holding this interactive workshop on the subject of Black Lives & Climate Justice.

About the workshop:

“Join Geoff Palmer to reflect on how structural racism impacts not just people of colour but also all of us in a country dominated by a continuing colonialism – benefiting from extraction of resources from the Majority World to maintain our profligate lifestyles.

An interactive workshop on intersectional dimensions of race and climate justice 6pm-8pm Tuesday 8 September 2020.

Sir Geoff Palmer DSc OBE is Edinburgh & Lothians Regional Equality Council’s Honorary President – Professor Emeritus in the School of Life Sciences at Heriot Watt University and human rights activist.”

We’ll also be talking about the free water-saving devices you can order for your Arran home and the big difference that these can make.

This event is for people who live on Arran, please share with your friends and family too.

Check out the short video below which explains a bit more about the water situation on Arran and features some local faces trying out a few of the water saving devices that you can order here for free.
