Plastic Free July may be ending, but the movement is just getting started.
Throughout the month, communities around the world, and right here on Arran, have come together to take action against plastic pollution.
Whether it was swapping cling film for beeswax wraps, remembering to pack a reusable water bottle, or shopping at our local refill stores or Zero Waste Cafe, small daily choices have added up to big impact.
At Arran Eco Savvy, we’ve loved seeing how many people got involved, asked questions, shared tips, and tried new things. From our Zero Waste Cafes to social media challenges, it’s been clear that Plastic Free July has sparked conversations and inspired change.
What is Plastic Free July?
Plastic Free July is a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution. It encourages individuals, households, schools, and businesses to reduce their use of single-use plastic and find long-term alternatives.
What We’ve Seen This Month
- More locals using reusable coffee cups and containers
- Swaps to soap bars and shampoo bars over plastic bottles
- A boost in second-hand shopping and DIY solutions
- Greater awareness about hidden plastics in packaging and products
- TAP: Think about Plastic Arran visited one of our Zero Waste Cafes
Even small changes, like saying no to produce bags or switching to refillable cleaning products, can significantly reduce waste over time. Many participants told us they plan to continue their plastic-free swaps well beyond July! Amazing!

Plastic Free July might be over, but the momentum doesn’t have to stop.
