The Van Raam Fun2Go Adapted Bike is a specially designed three-wheel tandem that allows two riders to sit side by side. One person steers while both can pedal, making it a great way to share the joy of cycling. With the seats positioned next to each other, riders can easily communicate and enjoy the experience together.

This bike is easy to access, as there is no need to step through to get on. The seats adjust effortlessly with a lever, ensuring a comfortable fit for any rider. For added convenience, the seats can also rotate, making it even easier to get on and off. Thanks to its unique design, with two wheels at the back and one at the front, the Fun2Go bike is highly maneuverable and can turn in place.

Who Can Use the Adapted Bike?

The Adapted Bike is perfect for anyone who cannot cycle independently. It is widely used by institutions, care homes, and individuals who need extra support. The main driver must be able to control and operate the bike at all times, while the passenger may have limited confidence due to illness, disability, or other conditions.

This bike provides a valuable cycling opportunity for children and adults with neuromuscular disorders (such as cerebral palsy or muscular dystrophy), coordination difficulties, balance disorders, and mobility challenges. It is also suitable for people with visual impairments, allowing them to enjoy cycling with a trusted companion.

Arran Eco Savvy’s Adapted Bike Pilot Programme

Thanks to funding from The UK Shared Prosperity Fund Community and Place Grant, Arran Eco Savvy received the bike in late 2024. A pilot programme launched in early 2025, giving the Arran community free access to this fantastic cycling resource.

The pilot included two key groups:

  1. Individuals building cycling confidence – Supported by a Cycle Leader/Buddy, individuals used the bike to gain confidence and enjoy cycling again.
  2. Organisations promoting inclusive cycling – Groups like the Arran Outdoor Centre integrated the Adapted Bike into their cycling sessions, making cycling accessible to more people.
