Full-time: 40 hours per week

Salary: £24,000 (paying the equivalent to £24,000 per annum)

Arran Eco Savvy has an exciting opportunity for a skilled, reliable and confident individual to take on the role as Energy Auditor on an exciting energy efficiency project funded through the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund. You will play an integral part in the delivery of the project and it is essential that you are a self-starter, adaptable and driven to make a difference in the climate change challenge.

Job Description

You will receive full training in your first weeks of the role and as an energy auditor, and upon completion, you’ll visit homes around the island to complete domestic energy audits. Your aim will be to improve energy efficiency in the home environment by evaluating energy use and recommending changes where needed.  You’ll advise households on all types of energy saving methods and need to be well equipped with confidence and people skills.

Through your training you will learn to deliver widespread, tailored knowledge to a significant number of individuals, households and groups on Arran and in doing this, reduce an immense amount of local carbon emissions.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Attend training sessions as required
  • Assess home energy consumption and performance
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement strategies and write action plans for each household to reduce energy consumption
  • Provide technical and practical advice
  • Provide energy efficiency training for individuals
  • Refer individuals to services and resources that our services will not stretch to in this project.
  • Encourage households, wider organisations and community to use renewable and sustainable energy resource
  • Develop promotional activities and materials to publicise particular schemes
  • Keep accurate records and regularly collect energy monitoring data
  • Submit accurate reports within a tight schedule
  • Adhere to deadlines for report and action plans for residences of audit focus
  • Meet daily targets
  • Raise the profile of energy conservation
  • Promote and advise on renewable energy options
  • Benchmark energy consumptions against best practice guidelines
  • Be confident in speaking to, and educating a large number of people
  • Represent and be an ambassador for the charity
  • Upon completion of training you will confidently speak on energy efficient behaviours and promotion of low carbon living and climate change
  • Hold regular workshops and energy-focussed drop in surgeries in villages across the island

Key Skills and Experience-desirable

  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the energy sector
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a similar field and related role
  • Quick learner with a track record of delivering tasks on time and to a high standard
  • Excellent IT and data management skills; numerate
  • Advanced skills with both Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Time-management skills
  • Show flexibility and adaptability
  • The ability to keep clear, complete and accurate records
  • Prior experience of delivering work under Government led incentive schemes
  • Diligent, trustworthy and respectful when working in client’s homes
  • Pass enhanced CRB check-essential

Qualifications

  • HNC/HND, SVQ2, NC, or a Degree in a related field
